II am an Australian writer, teacher and manager, and have worked across a wide variety of industries. These include education, journalism, politics, retail, finance & banking, health and construction, among others.
In recent years, I have had the opportunity to work for a national publication (over 160,000 readers fortnightly) and a federal senator. In these positions, I came to know more intimately the workings of corporate entities.
I think we're all sick of being ripped off by the petrol companies, supermarket chains, gas and electricity companies, telecoms and other big companies. Worse, we all tend to feel so powerless when dealing with these companies. And we are almost dependant on these services as part of our societal infrastructure.
With this Post, I hope to stimulate discussion and share ideas on how to address these rip-offs, and exercise our rights. I would welcome feedback from those who know where to go to report the rorts, and those who want to share their bad experiences with these companies.
I also hope to gather ideas to put to my own contacts in the media and government. I don't know how much good it will do, but I'm tired of doing nothing, and getting shafted by the corporations.
